About John
Hello, and thanks for visiting my personal website!
My name is John Cebelak, and I'm an individual whose passion for sport goes beyond athletic experience and fandom. Athletics and sports afford individuals an equal playing ground, regardless of background, and I'm pursuing a career in sports administration, with the end-goal of working in either event management/operations for a sports-facility or team, or for a governing body of sport, because I want to be involved in shaping local, national, or even global communities through sport. Whether it is a sport in which I have personal experience--swimming, soccer, or basketball--or any sport that gets people active and involved, I firmly believe that sport can play an integral role in not only the lives of the athletes who compete in them, or the fans who watch them, but in making our world a better place.
I bring a personable yet professional attitude, the ability to work with a team or lead, and the motivation to succeed, to all my endeavors. I am beginning pursuit of my master's degree in Sports Administration this fall, and attained my B.A. from Kalamazoo College last June, majoring in Economics with a concentration in Media Studies. My academic interests include sports economics, technology and media in sport, statistical analysis in sport, and sports journalism.
Most of my previous work experience has involved aquatics, but I am interested in working in any sport-related field. Currently I teach swim lessons at the Holland Community Aquatic Center, working mainly with elementary and preschool-aged children as well as teaching private, individualized lessons. I also currently work as a Summer Program Assistant at Black River Public School, my high school alma mater, where I teach the Phys Ed portion of their Summer Program.
Feel free to contact me through the form on this website, and thanks again for stopping by!
